The Clear Lake City Information Center
was designed as the focal point for the final phase
of land development by Friendswood Development Company
in Clear Lake City, a large mixed-use community surrounding
the Johnson Space Center in southeast Houston. A festive
place for visitors and prospective home buyers to obtain
information about Clear Lake City, the facility was
designed to be easily convertible to serve other community
functions such as an art museum or community association
meeting facility upon completion of the remaining land
development activity, a period estimated to be between
15 and 20 years. In addition to exhibit space for home
builder displays, land development models, and general
information about Clear Lake City educational, business
and recreational opportunities, a small theater was
provided with continuous audio-visual lifestyle information
about Clear Lake City and other Friendswood Development
Company activities. MCCM provided programming, architectural,
engineering and construction administration services
for this project.
