The Visitors Pavilion for the Port
of Houston is a multi-purpose facility located at the
west end of the Houston ship channel. It serves as home
berth for the M/V Sam Houston (the Port of Houston tour
boat) and as a pavilion for official Port of Houston
functions. Included in the complex is a 7,500 sq. ft.
open sided roofed structure, rest rooms, crew quarters
and a 100 ft. long covered dock for the tour boat. Picnic
and outdoor multi-purpose terrace areas are also provided.
MCCM provided programming, planning, architecture, engineering
and construction administration phase services.
Award: This project was chosen as one of the
ten best metal roof structures in the last ten years
by Metal Architecture magazine in 1994.
