This four-bay full service fire station
was designed to meet the fire protection needs of a
fast growing section of west Houston. This 10,000 square
foot facility includes four apparatus bays, two of which
are drive through; gear storage; maintenance, storage
and electrical generator rooms; dormitories for fire
fighters and EMT crews; office/dormitories for chief
and captains; recreation, dining and kitchen spaces;
communications equipment room; and locker, toilet and
shower rooms; and mechanical equipment spaces. Site
development includes parking spaces for 28 personnel
and three visitors, outdoor recreation space, mechanical
and trash yards, fueling station, and a 100 foot communications
antenna tower. MCCM worked very closely with the Houston
Fire Department in the programming and design phase
of the project to assure the incorporation of state-of-the-art
technology and design criteria. As fire fighting personnel
are responsible for most of the maintenance of their
fire station, MCCM designed this simple handsome facility
using durable construction materials that require minimum
maintenance. MCCM was responsible for programming, design,
construction documents, interior design, f,f&e,
and construction administration phases of the work.
