This 11,000 square foot four-bay fire station
is located in a recently annexed section of northwest
Houston. As with other fire stations, MCCM worked very
closely with the Houston Fire Department during the
programming and design phases of the project to assure
compliance with current technology and design criteria.
Fire Station No. 96 includes four drive-through apparatus
bays; maintenance and storage rooms; clean room; electrical
generator room; gear locker room; hose maintenance space;
dormitories for fire fighter and EMT crews; office/dormitories
for chief and captains; toilet, shower and dressing
rooms for men and women; recreation, dining, kitchen
and exercise rooms; computer and communications rooms;
visitors toilet room; and mechanical equipment
spaces. Primary exterior materials of the steel frame
building are masonry and stucco. Site work includes
parking for 25 personnel and 3 visitors, outdoor recreation
area, mechanical and trash storage yards, heliport,
fueling station, and a 150 ft. communications antenna
tower. MCCM was responsible for programming, design,
construction documentation, interior design, f,f&e,
and construction phase services.
